October 1999 - York County Heritage Trail

High Adventure

The High Adventure Club gathered in October 1999 to ride the York County Heritage Trails. The York County Heritage Trail is about 20 miles in length.

The objective was to ride from New Freedom to York and back for a total of 40 miles.

The riders met in New Freedom, PA and began there ride by following the York County Heritage Trail North to York, PA. Click here to learn more about the North Central Rail Trail & York County Heritage Trail.

    This tunnel is the oldest active railroad tunnel in the country, Ed Ramsey emerges from the tunnel.  This is the oldest working railroad tunnel in the united states.

    Hanover Junction was a famous stop for Abraham Lincoln prior to his Gettysburg Address. The old train station at Hanover Junction.  This was the last stop for Abraham Lincoln before he arrived in Gettysburg to deliver his famous Gettysburg Address.
