Crown Point and Vista House

This view of the Vista House on Crown Point was take from Chanticleer Point looking East.  Crown Point is the remains of a 25 million-year-old basalt flow.  It is believed that the flow completely filled the canyon and has been swept away by the great flood.  Rooster Rock can be seen on the canyon floor in the lower left of the picture.  It is a portion that broke off and slid down.  Vista House was built as a memorial to the pioneers.  During our trip, it was being renovated.
